Was just posting about that. Can't wait for the insanity. It's good for business. That along with silly things the su/college/usi does.

My plan for the elections is to sit in a sleeping bag in a deck chair in the exclusion zone just hurling abuse at candidates.

    (not really)

I now have glasses. Stupid inability to see things at a distance.

You'll get used to them quick enough! :)

3000th post. Not sure if this is good or bad.

Means you have too much time on your hands, tbh :pac:

Anyway, I don't have to wear them constantly. Just in lectures or if I'm looking at a screen. Which is pretty much all I do :-P

Mine are the same - screens and reading. Which, in actuality, given that I use a computer in lectures and a till at work, is all of the time, except when I'm walking places, so they became a permanent fixture pretty quickly.
You get used to them in no time, the only thing is that they'll inevitably get filthy dirty, so it's generally a good idea to keep a cleaning cloth handy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,810 ✭✭✭Seren_

I do have far too much time on my hands :pac:

And what How so Joe says about the cleaning cloth is true - glasses get unbelievably dirty, even when there is nothing touching them >.<

I'll get all that sort of stuff on Saturday/Tuesday when I'm collecting my glasses from the optician.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,764 ✭✭✭mickstupp

If it's Specsavers, I like the cloth they give with cleaning fluid in a little plastic thing. The cloth is far better than the one you get with the actual glasses.

Or it was the last time I got one anyway.

Name in chalk = No vote for you.

My rule was "vague and unattainable election promises = no vote for you", but that makes voting in student elections next to impossible

I wonder how many candidates will promise to build a swimming pool on the North campus? Probably every single one.

Apparently the anti-abortion group were out protesting again today. Fcuking hell, this college is so backward.

Yup, they were outside JH building. Very annoying as for some reason security had locked the back door, meaning you were forced to pass their leaflet people each time you were entering/leaving.

that explains why there was security this morning in JH... maybe some pro-choice person was stopping by. so they locked the back door to control entry into the building.

I hear you can take out kindles in the library now (same way as with the laptops), pretty cool imo!

I faced some harsh truths today. So naturally my first reaction was to get on Graph Jam.

Arrrrggghhh. Stupid height perception issues caused by new glasses. I feel like I'm only 2 foot walking around.

    Well. . . I can't even draw the graph! :(

Does anyone know if I can borrow 3 standard loans from the library and 2 week loans at the same time or do I have to choose between them?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,645 ✭✭✭Daemos

I believe you can have both at the same time, but I could be wrong

Undergrads can have 3 standard loans, 2 week loans and 1 day loan out at any one time.

Chill and Phoenix both take laser now, I know someone was giving out about that a while ago.

Anyone know where'd I could buy a sewing kit? A basic cheap needle and thread is all I need. For the life of me I can't imagine what kind of shop would sell them.

Also anyone want to pretend to be my mammy and sew some buttons for me? :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,810 ✭✭✭Seren_

Tesco usually has random little stuff like that. Also, there's a thread/wool/stuff like that shop in those shops opposite Tesco where the post office is, bound to be something in there.

    You're better than me, I can't even thread a needle let alone sow. I'll never get a husband ;____________;

I'm seriously worried about Maths. Can't escape the feeling I'm going to smash through my previous exam low of 16% (Biochem attempt 1 last year).

If you're undrgrad go to the math support centre, pretty much guarentees a pass if you go and get help. Great resource.
