Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I fear a mauling similar to last year's 6-0 defeat, especially considering our injury list -

    Bellamy - Out
    Kompany - 30/70
    De Jong - Out
    Ireland - 50/50
    Petrov - Out
    Bojinov - Not match fit
    Benjani - Out

So with that in mind I predict a team of -

    Given

    Richards
    Dunne
    Onouha
    Bridge

    Zabaleta
    Fernandes

    Elano

    Wright-Phillips
    Robinho

    Caicedo

Subs: Hart, Berti, Garrido, Vassell, Etuhu, Bojinov, A N Other

No point risking anyone with a massive game on Thursday.

    Prediction - 4 -1

3-2 Chelsea, City are getting better but their away form is cat. They will score though and I expect them to be pumped for this one with SWP and Wayne Bridge out to prove that they were worthy of better than just bench warming at their old club. Still Chelsea have been better since the arrival of Hiddink, but I think this game will be a joy to watch for the neutral. Loads of goals with Chelsea getting there.

Come on Chelsea, want the title race to stay somewhat open!

I'd prefer if you called this the clash of the cash

Chelsea should line up a good team with essien, and quaresma available.
hoping for Drogba to continue his good form.

I think that City are going give Chelsea a decent game of it..

Edit: just seen the lineup.. Oh oh

I hope Robinho scores another free-kick just to rub it in even if it only last a few minutes.

I think SWP will perform will today to make a point, he's that sort of guy. While City are shocking away from home, shocking, imo they have the ability to raise their game to their home levels every once in a while, and playing Chelsea will do that.
    Nonetheless, Chelsea win.

Hopefully it will be a dinger.

Then I have too feel dirty cheering on Spuds after...

Chelsea fans letting Robinho know what they think of him there

Good man Xavi. Thats screen grab is much better than just naming the sides.

1-0 Chelsea. Another goal for Essien. Excellent.

Amazing goal. Essien becoming a bit of a finisher recently!

Suicidal defending by City - quality finish from Essien

That goal was luck more than anything else.

    Game over tbh

Whats with the negative vibes brother. Only 25mins in, still time to get something.

    Looked great first time.
But on the replay really just looks like he shins it

Ref is a fool for letting Ballack retake that free. It clipped the refs heel but certainly did not look like it changed the direction of the ball. Poll said he was had.

    flukey goal tbh.

Riley really is such a ****e ref.

1-0 down, away to Chelsea, have won once away all year...plenty of reasons to be positive.

LOL at setanta and their "5th official" that comes up in the corner when Graham Poll talks.

I assume they do that all the time?never noticed it before.

Micheal Essien is good at football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Craig Burley...........

    Thats enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Mike Riley is some joker. How the hell did evans not get a free there?!Then he goes one against Dunne straight after before booking Ched who was understandably frustrated.

    I despair.

He's a seriously good player but missing almost 2 full seasons will ahve had an effect on him.

Is he in the national side. Will he be playing against us in two weeks at Croker ?

It will but he's still only just gone 23 so time is on his side.

He might very well be depending on fitness.

That was a load of bollox. City put up nothing in the way of attack really. Robinho was playing ? Could have fooled me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    Loada me hoop

    Robinho - Not interested AGAIN

    Elano - Shite

    Caicedo - Shite

    Evans - Championship player

Ireland - Disappeared after half time

    Wright-Phillips - He was playing?

Only for Onouha, Dunne and probably Bridge we'd have been hammered. Chelsea didn't even need to get out of second gear.

Theres a lack of cohesion in City's play imo. You can call it a lack of interest but I think its just plain bad tactics. If a player is dispossessed the ball always seemed to break to a Chelsea player, there seems to be a big gaping hole in the centre of midfield where you rarely see a City player.

    And Michael Essien was immense.

That sort of thing happens when you're missing your first choice pairing in the middle.

    Kompany. De Jong.
