upvc door won't open

    Would it be the handle spindal has rounded off over a time and its just moving freely inside lock? Any chance you can take off handle and put another bar into lock and try and turn it...

    Possibly the key is worn so that while it appears to be operating the dead bolt it isn't fully withdrawing it. There's usually a fair bit of play in the key slot, and so if you insert the key and turn it through half a turn in the unlocking direction, then press down on the end and turn the rest of the way it might then fully open the deadlock. If that works it's a work key or worn lock mechanism. If it is that then at least you now have the door open and you can fit a new lock.

    deadbolt(down low)is opening alrite,. the door is caught at the latch halfway up.everything seems to be operating normally otherwise.took off handle and everything turns as normal

    Did you try and lift whole door up with handle maybe? It might have dropped a little and not clearing catches....

    tried that too.a locksmith called today so he's gonna take care of it hopefully
