I went through my crazy 'Downloading everything phase' when I would download 2-3 movies a day at 700mb each,
a few hundred songs at around 1gb maybe

It was about 5gb a day, its now only the Odd good Album that I hear of I download at around 150mbs.

People who download 30 40gb a day, you are Nuts, get a job!

There are 5 or 6 of us: 11.55G last 30 days, about 1.5G of that is uploads . Includes downloads for setting up 3x PCs.

I download CDs & DVDs from online Retailers and local shops such as Tesco, HMV & Hietons. :)

    byte

    About 40-60GB a month

About 100Gb up & 100Gb down torrenting, although there have been spikes to 200.

Another 50 Gb or so p2p/megaupload/rapidshare

No idea what my surfing is, but I surf quite a lot, too. Skype gets daily use, along with WLM and regular Pandos within a trading circle.

EDIT - I forgot about gaming [xBox & PC], so you can chalk another ton on that I reckon.

I used to download very little, and could never understand why folks were downloading Gigabytes of data per month, i just painted everyone as doing illegal things. However in the last year i have been racking up huge amounts of data, as such you have all corrupted me.

I average about 10-20GB a month, i could never understand how people download more then 100gb a month, for one when in gods name do you get the time to watch the stuff you download?

Illegal activity, people will spout legal HD streaming and what not....it's all BS in case someone is reading, but hey....we're all in the same boat, right?

All thouse people saying 30-40GB+, how would you download that much? I usually download between 10-15 a month.

    Hi Definition...3 to 5gb are 720p....5 to 20 are up to 1080p

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

I used to think it was impossible to download 40GB, but it's really not!...even if you leave out hi-def, standard rips of movies or tv shows are 350-700MB, lets take a Monday, loads of shows get broadcast tonight, if you download them all you could easily cain 5GB in just one session......

we got a letter saying we downloaded 230gig one month.. back then, we were on a 30 gig cap. some quick maths at the time worked out it was over 15k in penalties if they had tried to charge us per megabyte over our limit.
what isp are u , eircom?
    wow at 230 lol

    I added a poll. I think it's pretty interesting.

Have any of your ISPs ever gave out about downloading too much?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,699 ✭✭✭branners69

    I'd download 100gb a month, would download 200gb if I was allowed!

was thinking about going the usenet route... how's it for content?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭BigEejit

You can get all the info from your routers homepage.

    About 50-100 a month
Nah, my Dlink router gets power cycled several times a month and anyway it shows the receive and transmit in packets. I have no idea how many bytes make up one of those packets. At present I have >15 million packets downloaded and 3 million uploaded.

50 to 75gb, give or take.

If you like your content virus free (I have never come across a virus on usenet, where when I did use torrents years ago, it seemed every other file was in fact a virus)

If you like you content real, ie not just named something and then you download to discover it is man on man action then usenet is for you.

I find the content to be more mature, not as in porn but as in not full of things teenagers are into.

Torrents are for the masses, and you know what happens when the masses get involved in any thying. No one is as stupid as everyone.

Usenet on the other hand seems to be populated by people who know how to type/use a computer.

    In my experience anyway.

    No, and they'd better not.

'Unlimited' in my book means unlimited.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,396 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

~100gigs at least when I'm home.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,612 ✭✭✭uncleoswald

I'd say I get fairly close to my 15gig a month limit. Does anyone know of a way to monitor this with UPC? I know I saw it written somewhere when signing up that you could but I can't find any mention of it on their website now. And I don't want to ring them up and ask in case it alerts them to the fact I've gone over!

I am constantly being throttled

    But its worth it :D

Got a letter last month threatening to move us up to the more expensive package as we had exceeded our 'unlimited' download limit by a good 50gbs, we are on UPC/NTL broadband and they say they give a maximum limit of 250gbs a month and we were on 300 gbs download limit... but it was a first warning so to speak...
