Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Vista keeps crashing during virus scans

I recently bought a new Acer Aspire laptop with Windows Vista and Norton Anti-Virus installed on it. That was about two months ago.

So far I have been unable to complete a single virus scan in about 10 attempts. I finally removed Norton and installed AVG Free Edition, but it still crashes, or rather, it freezes. Sometimes the screen goes to black.

On the last attempt I noticed the scan slowing down and finally coming to a halt when it tried to scan the User>AppData>Local>Temp folder. I've since tried to scan that folder manually, only the scan failed to start and the screen went to black.

I've never encountered a problem like this before I bought this laptop. If anyone has any ideas as to what the problem is and what I can do to fix it, I would be most grateful...

Are you sure first of all that you have completly removed Norton. It is not as easy as doing and add remove programs. There is a tool you can download for free to remove the remains of Norton. Use this tool then reboot into Safe Mode and try do the virus checks again. Also try some anti spyware like Spybot Search & Destroy
