Confused about dental treatment fees?

I have to get a filling and have an appointment with a friends of mines dentist on Thursday in Melbourne. I know there is a reciprocal health agreement between Ireland and Australia but I've no idea what way this is going to work i.e. Do I pay the Dentist after my treatment and then somehow claim it back or will they just take into account I'm a tourist and charge accordingly?

I also have travel insurance but I don't think its valid because of the reciprocal health arrangement?

The average Australian pays for dental services, its not covered under Medicare... and same goes for Irish under the reciprocal program.

You'll have to use your travel insurance. "Reciprocal Health Care Agreements do not replace the need for private travel health insurance."
