Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Try asking in the Bird Watching section. They may have better knowledge.

    Contact birdwatch ireland.

I know they like clean un-polluted, lowland waterways, so try a remote area of the shannon.

I've seen several along the boyne and there damned fast unless you find one eyeing a fish from a perch.

I watched a programme recently on Horse & Country TV - I think it was Johnny Kingdom messing around in the country.
Anyway, he wanted to film a kingfisher so he went to a small river with a guide who knew where the birds were. They set up a perch in the middle of the river (a stream really) and the perch was basically a small branch propped up about 1 metre out of the water. They then set up a hide about 5 meters away and sat quietly waiting.
Eventually along came the kingfisher and duly perched on the perch. Apparently they love to perch while hunting and he duly obliged and dived for a fish. Johnny got his shot!

So, if you find the river, there's your instructions!
