Summer flights from US to Ireland

For most of the year flights between the eastern US and Ireland are fairly cheap and don't hurt too much, ie < $400 per person is easily enough found without too much effort.

But for the summer months, the price really seems to get a lot more expensive, in that you are lucky to find something for < $600 per person.

Is there a good time to buy summer flights? keeping in mind that transatlantic flights aren't like ryanair, ie the cheapest seats aren't the first sold. So when is a good time to get flights in say June?
