Don't remember where I was

    Don't remember where I was
I realized life was a game
The more seriously I took things
    The harder the rules became
I had no idea what it'd cost
My life passed before my eyes
I found out how little I accomplished
    All my plans denied

So as you read this know my friends
I'd love to stay with you all
please smile when you think of me
    My body's gone that's all

A tout le monde (To everybody)
A tout mes amis (To all my friends)
Je vous aime (I love you)
Je dois partir (I must leave)
    These are the last words
    I'll ever speak
    And they'll set me free

If my heart was still alive
I know it would surely break
And my memories left with you
    There's nothing more to say

Moving on is a simple thing
What it leaves behind is hard
You know the sleeping feel no more pain
And the living all are scarred

A tout le monde (To everybody)
A tout mes amis (To all my friends)
Je vous aime (I love you)
Je dois partir (I must leave)
    These are the last words
    I'll ever speak
    And they'll set me free

So as you read this know my friends
I'd love to stay with you all
Please smile, smile when you think about me
    My body's gone that's all

A tout le monde (To everybody)
A tout mes amis (To all my friends)
Je vous aime (I love you)
Je dois partir (I must leave)
    These are the last words
    I'll ever speak
    And they'll set me free

Great tune. Megadeth's attempt at continuing the streak of MTV airplay in 1995 with Youthanasia. Sadly it wouldn't last very long.

Another one of their tunes that sound better live than in the studio.

Amazing, no real need to remake it, as they did in 2007

    Agreed,

Absolutely no need to redo the track the original is great in my opinion.

Agreed. The reworked version is garbage.

Are you kidding me?, anything that woman goes near turns to sh*t. Sorry, she has a great voice for her own songs but she also made a butchery of Enjoy The Silence too.

Her vocals were the best part of that song.

Don't remember where I was, I realised we needed a radio friendly four minute ballad.

The poor man's In My Darkest Hour.

I may not agree with this, but it did make me laugh first thing this morning. :D

    I do try :D

Ahh, I just think it's a weak song on a weak album. It was Youthanasia which killed my interest in Megadeth, the whole thing just leaves me cold.

I hear that, it initially killed my interest too, but looking back at it in retrospect, it's not that bad. I just think the mid 90s were a horrible time for metal. I might be alone in that thinking though.

No, I'm with you there, from about '93 on it all turned to ****e with very few exceptions.

Not really listen to how the arrangement is structured.

dunno. I like youthanasia. cryptic writings.warnings (??) was *meh*, too trebly sounding...Risk was a a pile of crud bar the very last tune...
however I got the rude awakening dvd which is \m/

mid 90s wasn't that bad for metal...

If you experienced mid-80's Metal, the mid-90's was hard to stomach.

I have never listened to any megadeth album in its entirety. Just like that one song from them to be honest. :)

I have done, and Scabbia's worse off in my honest opinion.

Yeah, 91 and 92 were the last of the glory years for Rock/Metal albums

Pearl Jam's Ten, Pantera's Vulgar Display Of Power, Slayer's Decade Of Aggression live album, Testament's The Ritual to name a few.

I remember nearly crying when I heard Suicidal Tendencies Art Of Rebellion, it was so bad compared to previous outings. I'm also bitter cos McGonagles closed it's doors around that period too. Nowhere in my honest opinion has ever been able to take it's place, for either gigs or it's metal nights.

    Ah nostalgia. :D

The early to mid 90s was poor if you were solely into heavy and thrash metal, but if you were into other genres of metal there were some classic albums released in the early 90s.

Don't you dare try to cite Pink Bubbles Go Ape as an example! :P

I didn't, if it's the gig you're refering to, which i think may have been in 1991 with Cynic supporting. I was supposed to but was grounded and had my ticket ripped up.

Hell have no fury like a teenage rocker scorned, Mom found her best dress with a few slashes ripped into it later that year. Because if ya get... ya give! And the best place to get back at a parent of the female sex after the purse, is the wardrobe ;)

*Please note that i am not condoning my actions in any way shape or form, but everyone does dumb sh*t as a teen*
