Cold spell from 25th march onwards

Latest weather charts are expecting a last cold snap from 25th of march onwards and it will only affect the eastern part of the country with a brisk easterly wind.showers will affect eastern coastal only some of them could be wintery

if it swings around to the north before going around to the northwest some other places will see wintry showers too

Sure last week it was looking like getting cold from the east but now its looking like a prolonged fine spell of weather.

What weathercheck is saying is that just because a particular chart today shows something happening a week from now, that doesn't mean its going to happen. Anything beyond a few days out is pretty much a fantasy and usually changes wildly from model to model and run to run.

not denying the possible cold spell but your gonna get lots of disapointments if you bank on one chart.only watch them for trends that far out till we get into more realistic time frame.trust me thats healthy advice

It looks like there will be two colder interludes first next weekend Sat/ Sunday and then middle of next week with northerly winds coming from all the way down from Svalbard and beyond! I will call this Arctic winds! - This could change but it has been consistant!

Yea, looks like cooling signifigantly this week with the prospect of a decent cold plunge through Saturday/Sunday and onwards!

I think the weekend is going to be particularly cold and showery. Perhaps even raw and wet in a stiff wind. I could see there being some long spells of rain (with probably sleet or snow in northern upland areas). It's now looking like there'll be an improvement early next week with southern areas in particular becoming dry and quite mild again. Further north less mild with still the chance of some precipitation. but again maybe early april charts are not looking good as there is another cold snap.6th April 08 V's 6th April 09:

Beyond that things look as if they could well turn much more settled and rather pleasant potentially even warm for many.

So an outlook of contrasts. Further into FI there are signs of the mild settled weather being replaced by colder stuff from the north once more but let's get the next few days out of the way first.

Just caught the late evening forecast on RTE1 and Gerry Murphy said that there was reports of a "mini tornado" around Banagher in Offaly :eek:

Yeh theres a decent bit of snow on the mountains near as well today, wether it will last very long is another story though
