New 50mm

Sony announced an el cheapo 50 f1.8 dt at pma recently. Now I would like an autofocus fifty to replace my mf one. Anybody have an idea of when we will see this in the shops?

It's already out in the UK checked it in 2 shops... one in Oxford one in Southampton. Both £199/£200. So what's that in Ireland €599.99 + Your soul? :pac:

^ thats not helpful. It was called a prototype at pma so i think its unlikly its out already.

Just asked if it would be out in the next couple of months.....


Rumored to be priced at 99 sterling so priced in between canon and nikon alternatives

i would get one of these if it is anyway good. minolta AF 50mm are way overpriced 2nd hand!

Mmmmh that's interesting indeed... Landyman, keep us posted if you hear anything more. i've a friend working @ one of the Sonycentres, will check with him during the week if he's heard anything.

Ye will keep every one updated if i hear anyting..... The minolta 50 f1.7 prices are way over inflated ( i'v seen some go for 150) so hopefully a replacement will bring these right down.

Hopefully it will be as good as the canikon alternatives if the old minolta 50 is anything to go by : )

minolta 50 f1.4 is still reasonable value compared to sony's 50 f1.4 if you can find one...
