Underfloor Heating thermostats

    Have just bought a 4 year old house with UFH downstairs and rads upstairs. Heating is powered by an ACV Combination boiler ( http://www.acv-uk.com/deltaperformance.htm).

    Q1 : There is only one thermostat in the house (on wall in hall outside kitchen door). Presumably it would be far more economical to have more thermostats so that heat can be turned off in certain rooms downstairs if necessary? Is it possible to have more fitted at this stage?

    Q2 : As mentioned above I have an ACV Combination boiler
    (http://www.acv-uk.com/deltaperformance.htm) with an oil burner. Can anyone recommend someone to service such a boiler in the general Wexford area?

    In answer to Q1,
    It's almost certain that the UFH is one zone, there is only one pipe run to and from the boiler.

    It would be almost impossible to split the system into seperate zones without ripping up the floor and relaying some of the pipework.

    It may not necessarilly be one zone I have UFH with an eight section manifold so in my mind I should be able to have eight seperate zones but for convience I have only 5 zones. Best thing would be to get a plumber to look at the installation.

    Look up "heating engineers" or similar, Not all general plumbers are very experienced in UFH.

    As I mentoined in the original post, my ACV Delta Performance combi boiler has an oil burner fitted to it. From reading through various older threads it would seem that people generally feel that gas is far more suited to UFH than oil. Anyone got a current opinion on this? Would I be better off get a gas burner fitted?
