Gazillion Entertainment today unveiled a key partnership to develop MMO games based on Marvel Entertainment properties.

With team members from Apple, Blizzard Entertainment, Microsoft Game Studios, Pixar Animation Studios and many other leading companies, Gazillion has assembled talent from across the landscape of MMOs, console videogames, animated feature films and technology to address the mission of building breakthrough MMOs capable of resonating with wide audiences.

Gazillion's new licensing agreement with Marvel calls for the development and publishing of MMO games featuring Marvel's iconic universe super heroes.The first game in development is a casual MMO for younger audiences based on Marvel's Super Hero Squad property. Super Hero Squad features an exciting, super-stylized look for the greatest Super Heroes, including Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Thor, Fantastic Four, Captain America and many others.

"We're planning on launching separate games but as additional games are released, they'll share various levels of connection. Sounds like a great idea on the front with the vast amnt of characters and classes and skills that could be had and great fun in a real world setting... What i dont like is that it seems they are makign 2?? one for casuals and one for serious gamers? cant they surely do this in one game cater for both needs...
Dnt kow who Gazillion are but the fact they've recruited from a borad spectrum with ppl with experience can only be good for the project. Still a long way away and hopefully they give it serious inout and not end up with a mess like LOTR.

I remember they were trying to make one years ago but it fell through. DC have their own one coming out soon, and there's Champions Online on the way too. I wonder if/how they'll make this one stand out, or if they'll just rely on the brand name to sell.
