I know that the Porterhouse usually release Chocolate Truffle Stout about this time of year for a short period of time.

Does anyone know if they are selling Chocolate Truffle Stout in The Porterhouse at the moment?
Or when it will be available?

I cannot see anything about it on their website

    How is the beer?

I have been checking the website occasionally and have sent emails to the Porterhouse company with no replies to my questions, so that is why I am now asking on boards.ie

The beer has an unusual taste which you either love or hate. It smells like chocolate, looks like stout and tastes as a combination of both. I like it.

The only 'novelty' drink I have time for. Gorgeous.

Sounds great. Do you know if it is in all the outlets?

I assume it is available in all outlets. Last year I know I had a pint of it in Porterhouse North (Glasnevin), Porterhouse Temple Bar and Porterhouse Central.

Just had a pint. Darker, bitterer, stoutier than last year, which is all to the good. Very very nice.

Even though the launch was last night, these beers may not be available until the festival kicks off on Thursday.

Remember that as a media gadabout you have privileges not open to normal people.

Aye, I know, and another pub around Merrion Square too.

    But.

I live in Finglas, so The Porterhouse North is practically my local. :)

Wish I had a local like that. All the locals do here is the usual Guinness, carlsberg, Heinekan, Coors light muck with Guinness being the best of them.
Well in fairness I like Guinness but compared to many other stouts, it is lacking the taste department.

maybe if you asked one of them nicely?

I was working in Kenmare about 3 days a week for a couple of months a while back and one of the pubs got it in for me.
Funnily enough that was the pub I drank in exclusively!

They don't usually though - I think it might be for their independent festival for the next 10 days or so only.

    Hehe yeh :)

Why don't the porterhouse do this stout all year round? It seemed to be a good seller when i was there(aprt from me drinking the whole lot :D)

I dunno. I quite like the whole seasonal rotation thing. Though mind you, I'd prefer if Oyster went on rotation for oyster season and was replaced by something like this in the permanent line-up.

So we have to wait another year for the next time to enjoy the choc stout?

Btw, on price its cheaper in Porterhouse North at €4.20 instead of €4.50 in Central

Well it's usually on until about May or June, so it's only eight or nine months of a wait ;)
