    In the window of Easons.

They have a little display up with one page with the details. I should be passing by it again on Monday, if no one else has checked/found out by then I'll post back up the details.

i will definatley be goin to the next signing, i just hope they understand that some/most people will already have the book signed so wont necessarily have it again!

Just as long as said people will have to understand that it's at Easons discretion to allow what can and can't be signed. And if you don't have the book, they may not sign it. Unless you bring something along with the book obviously. :)

That said, a signed copy of a book always makes a good pressie. ;)
(and no, that wasn't a hint, i got my one signed last year)

I bought the book in Easons last week, there was a few euro off the price. Haven't got round to starting it yet, I think I'm more in the mood for reading Jericho's first

    They are both great.

Would anyone actually go to meet Bret a second time? I mean I got my book and DVD signed, shook his hand and had a chat, My inner child was delighted. A second time I would feel like a stalker or something and wouldnt know what to say.

He's used to it, he had to put up with the guys who went to see him at the WM booksigning and then again a few hours later at the AWR show.

I do agree though, too many times is overkill.
And yes, twice is too many times.

If i was going to see him i'd rather get something else signed. Action figure, belt, glasses, whatever. Books being signed doesn't make the most sense to me. If i get a signature of someone on a piece of merchandise based on them, i'd like to be able to display it. Books are tough to display.

That said, I have a signed promo shot of him, so im happy with that. Must pick up a frame for that sometime.

KKV, on Brets site they make a point to tell the difference between a "Book signing session" and an "Autograph Session".

Basically a book signing is that and that only, the latter is a more of what was doing pre all the AWR shows.

And guess what one he has up for the easons signing?....

    Brrrrrrr......

    A Book Signing!! :(

Tempted to travel up for this, but if he is only signing the book then it might be a waste of a trip since someone (;)) already got the book signed for me :)

The signing seems like a perfect chance for any of those people who were completely glazed over when they seen bret at the table in front of me.

Met a mate's brother who i never knew even was that bothered with wrestling at the dundalk AWR and he went on to tell me how much he loved Bret and how nervous he was to see his childhood hero and that.
So to help his nerves he had for shots and joined the queue.

Found him afterwards and he told me that he walked over to the table, pointed at his camera to which bret replied "A photo? Sure". And after the picture was taken Bret pointed to Craigs shirt as he was standing up and Bret said "Cool, Ghostbusters! That's nice."
(Craig had a tee on with a slimer print).
And Craig brilliantly mumbled "Yeah? Awesome." And simply just walked away.

He regrets how he couldnt muster up anything to say to him that night so im sure he will be at this to make up for it.

Just wanna clarify one thing here guys, anyone who missed him at the first signing last year, don't be afraid to approach the guy. He's really approachable and easy to talk to. So when yer queueing, don't sh*t a brick. Just be yourselves. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,536 ✭✭✭Brimmy

In fairness I did the same to Foley where I just stared at him and pointed.

I think I even squeeked when I tried to talk.

This was in contrast to the Hoff signing (who I love just as much) where he dragged me over for a photo, put his arm around me and kept joking with me about how I was sick in the head for wearing a tshirt of him in Speedo's from the 80's.

    That was awesome :)

I should ban you for admitting that you wore a shirt of him in speedos.
Please tell me you're a girl! Otherwise i'll be sending you Pat Patterson's email address! :P

I feel 9 again.... asked my cousin to get me an autograph the last time he was over but in my cousin's own words "I dropped the Cosby kids when i seen him" and so i never got it cos my cousin was too scared to approach him :( Hopefully this time i will actually get it cos this guy is my hero!

Its great to hear that he is actually really approachable cos it would put a downer on it if he was stuck up his own arse, that saying, never meet your idols cos you will only be disappointed.

By the way,has anyone read the book???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

Foley I found really approachable, I met him again in Universal Studios last year with Dewey and Nicole and a simple "Hey Mick" got a big smile and a high five from him, compared to Michael Cole who wouldnt even pose for a pic even though we were the only people in the bar to recognise him, even Kerwin Selfies (grey haired guy with a beard who does a lot of interviews for the dvds, is one of the heads of production) was a pleasure to talk to, was amazed someone would travel from Ireland to Florida for a wrestling event and was really chatty, I was gutted though cos he wanted to interview us but the girl who was carrying the camera doing fan interviews had gone to bed for the night, i could have been on the dvd :( ah well..

Utter bullsh*t, i've met many musicians who have inspired me to write/play bass over the course of the last ten years, every single one of them have been professional and courteous. That said, you can usually tell if someone wants to be approached or not. It's not rocket science. :)

Yep, long, detailed and worth every minute you've spent reading it. Do a search for the books thread here, you'll get more info there.

Wonder would it be worth taking a title belt? Id buy the old WWF belt if he'd sign it, i have the attitude one but he never held that, although I have been itching to get an IC one so this might be the excuse I need...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,602 ✭✭✭✭ShawnRaven

It won't hurt to drop a message via the brethart.com site with these questions. It would kinda suck if it was a book only policy and people went out and bought replicas only for them to be turned away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,243 ✭✭✭discobeaker

Cool, thanks for the thumbs up on the book and letting me know that its a good read. Will defo pick up a copy, gotta find something else to get signed now.... Think i have the hitman glasses somewhere.

I have met some of my idols aswell but this guy is my first "hero" and its cool that he is nice to his fans. This news has made my week :)

well kane n nite bought a replica belt for the last bret signing in wrestling mania and he signed it no bother, shouldnt be too much of a problem i'd say!

That wasn't strictly a book signing. In fact I don't think Bret even had that date/venue mentioned on his site except for the AWR gig. That was Wrestling Mania and AWR pulling some strings before the listed signing on his site (to their credit)

Again, I'm not really the person to ask there, I don't know (or want to know) anyone at Easons. :)

I'm sure it would depend heavily on how many people are there to see him and how lng he is signing for (and his mood of course).

I imagine you'd need to buy the book in Easons in order to qualify to meet him, though?

really? well fair play to them for that! but i did remember them saying that it was books only allowed to be signed (well to get into the signing originally you were supposed to have the book stamped and you could bring other things but the book was mandatory)

having said that, that wasnt the way it turned out through no ones fault the numbers just determined thats what would happen!

I'm trying to remember if i got the Are We There Yet? book there on the day or not... I think i did though, it was the only Easons signing i ever attended to, and the only one I will.

Yeah they allowed a little leeway, because they're like that. :)

Well some people just took the piss. I remember one guy brought about 10 postcards! The agent stepped in and said only 2 postcards and the book!

Well thats just it, on top of that, they were stuck in traffic on the way in too, as a result the poor guy didn't even get a chance to have a coffee before he started or after he left.

Just enquiring, how much is Bret's book? Funds are kinda low but since everyone is giving it great reviews might get a copy. :)

It's coming out on paperback soon enough (if it aint out already), so it shouldn't be too expensive. Hardbacks usually are though.

Got mine on play.com for 15e I think. Hardback edition.

Says on brets website to keep your receipt if possible. Think mine is in the bin! Will it make much of a difference?

Play.com are pretty good for most books compared to shops. I got Jericho's book for a similar price when it 1st came out and found it twice as dear when I went into the shops.

So is this definitely on next Saturday guys? Admittedly, I stopped following wrestling soon after the whole Invasion storyline, but Bret Hart was probably my biggest hero growing up, and one of the things I have on a list of things to do before I die is to thank a childhood hero for the fond memories, so Id love to meet Bret, even if only for a minute to get the book signed. The man was pretty much God to me as a child.

Good luck then. As i said earlier, he's one of the easier approachable ones, so it'll be a task you can chalk off the list. :)

Indeed, I couldnt belive it when he asked me a question  Got a good chat with him about the book. He may have been just looking for feedback, but anything I asked to be signed, he happily did and I had alot. Real easy to talk to. I remember seen him outside the hotel in Wexford when the bus pulled up, He had a cap on and I said to the gf ''I think thats Bret Hart'' Then when I realised it was him I kinda frooze up and just gave out a big Dub accent ''HOW YA!!'' and gave him a thumbs up with a big happy smilly head and MR T haircut from the holloween party the night before on me :o

What on earth do you ask your childhood hero though!? I absolutely know Ill freeze, no matter how welcoming Bret is.

    Bret: "Hey how are you?"
    Me: "Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

I just asked him how the tour was going. He responded with "Well, it's a hell of a lot easier than being slammed", He asked me if i'd read the book, most likely looking for feedback, but i'd only started it, so was honest about it. Shook hands, photo, bada bing bada boom bada bang.

I'm two chapters away from the end of his book and I don't really want it to end. It's great hearing his thoughts on guys like The Rock, Austin, Foley etc.

I will definitely be goin to this!
I remember meeting mick foley in easons a few years back and I completely froze when he started talking to me about the book,my mate who was with me said it was hilarious to watch,I just mumbled sumtin, pointed to my camera and retardidly said 'picture' apparently!
I also remember meeting cena and torrie wilson in hmv ages ago though and i was completely non plussed by both of them, there was teenage girls crying and **** and I didn't get what all the fuss was about,I guess he was their Mick Foley haha!
In fairness to cena and torrie they were really friendly and chatty but I just wasn't a big fan of either!

Anybody have a rough idea of what time to start q'ing at to get a good position?
For foley I was there at about 10am and I was number 125 in the line!

I was going to ask the same thing. I was thinking of being there for 10am or earlier. Is that good time?
Oh and I have a ticket from "Back in the Ring" 1995 (Bret fought Hakushi). Will Bret sign it or is it strictly books?

I was in Easons (Belfast) today, where Bret's due to do a signing friday. They've a bunch of instructions as to what will happen at the signing printed up now. One of these is that, Bret will only be signing copies of the book purchased in store.

That said, judging by what SR and the guys have said, IF there is time (i wouldn't count on it), I'm sure he'll sign a second item, but you must purchase the book.

I'll throw my opinion in on meeting him- He was one of the nicest wrestlers I've ever met. Very accommodating and easy-going.

My one and only experience of an Easons signing was a disaster. So from what i've read, Easons' staff may try to accommodate something else, but as i've already said before, his agent really is a pushy sh*t. Unless he ends up using someone else.

So don't bother bringing expensive replica belts unless you have a book handy folks.
