Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I purchased a green acre site about 6 months ago and I am looking to build a house of approximately 2500 - 3000 square feet on it. I have a budget of around €100k to build on it. What options are out there in regards to building a house on it if I wanted to stay away from the traditional route of a builder? Are there other types of construction like prefabricated types which could be used to build the house and what are the advantages and disadvantages of them? I would love to hear from anybody who has used or knows other types of construction. Thanks.

I built two years ago and I used an ICF system, clink on the selfbuld link in my sig for info.

100K for 2500-3000 ft2 seems a bit tight unless you are planning to do a lot of the work yourself or have a supply of cheap materials.

SIP's (structural insulated panels) are another option, with these the house really arrives on the back of a lorry.

Have a search through some of the threads here, there's a huge amount of info to be had!

    Good luck with the build.
