Shooting in Limerick

Just heard on the news there, that a man was "shot" last night in Limerick. However the gardai are saying it was "accidental" and the man, who is known to gardai, seemed to have shot himself in the head (by accident). Twelve shots were fired illegally as Collopy was taken to the church last night.there were guards present but they turned a blind eye to it.Who or what will that gun be used for next??Could the guards not have even been seen to make some sort of move.I no it was a funeral,but with the record of gun crime you would think they would want as many guns off the street as possible.It looks very bad on the guards behalf.
