    Gurus,

is it ok to power up rc receiver (Futaba 136F) directly from 7.2v battery ?
does it (recv) have any step down circuitry to make it 5 or 6v ?
not sure if servos will be fine with voltage above 6v ...

    any ideas ?

The Rx probably could take the power but your servos wont last long on 7.2. you should use a regulator between the Rx and battery.

    Don't try it.
Those are 5V circuits. They tolerate 6V or 4.8V but a 7.2V battery will very likely let the "magic smoke" out.
You could place a resistor in between the battery and the rx to reduce the voltage. That would function as a simple regulator.

Just buy a UBEC if you dont understand eletronics, how to make a regulator and you will not have any problem at all.The ubec receive the 7,2 volts and convert to 6v or 5v,you can programming the UBEC with jumpers.
    Look those two

    Thanks guys.
    I certainly know about UBEC,
my question arose from friendly(?) advise I got at one local model shop :(

anyway, problem has gone - have to use heavier battery (9cell NiMH) to get balance right, so UBEC will be there.
