Metro Limerick Issue - Packet Loss.

I thought I might start a new thread with a correct title on this problem.

This issue appears to be affecting a significant amount of people who are further than average from the Woodcock base.

Currently I am experiencing between 15-30% packet loss for the past few weeks.
I have logged several calls to Digiweb on this issue, and they admit that it is a known issue due to an update that was done to the base stations. Apparently this affects people on the borderline max distance.
I have been told that there is NO ETA to resolve this problem.

It completely wipes out any online gaming as while you can get a decent ping from a server on a list, once you are in-game it lags or drops out constantly.

Can anyone else with the same issue please post what support has told you here?

Countdown till disconnect notice - 7 days.

Aaand a switch to Sec 3 sorts it. 29SNR -2 Power.

I think... Lets wait till peak times. 11mb/1mb tests on the button and 0% loss - I havent had that for 2 weeks.

I hope 3 isnt overloaded any more. *crosses fingers*

Obviously using the Galway server doubles the ping as it has to go to Dublin's juicy fibre and back out to Galway, so more like 400km than 100km :) and a number of gateways/routers. The Speedtest server in Dublin is easily maxed out.

It wasnt fine until I was switched, I was getting about 10% this morning. Engy was out at 10am and got it sorted.

Its weird that you get 69 ping from the Galway Speedtest as well. Its between 19-30 for me.

    Hi Jumpy,
I'm in the same boat as you, How did you get them to send an engineer out?

Does the engineer need access to your house of the box on the ariel?

Are there any steps that you can do yourself to improve connection?

    Thanks,
    Liam

I had called support several times before they sent someone out. My signal wasnt really borderline, but I guess it was bad enough with the new changes they have made to mess up the connection.
I was ready to disconnect and I think they could tell.

There is nothing you can do yourself except make sure no new bushes/tree growth is blocking path to mast

    Jumpy,

Did the engineer resolve the problem?

I think that I might have the same issue in Galway.
I cannot seem to get the tech support to admit they have made changes in the basestation.

I can get 800+ kb/s ~ 8mb down on a torrent, but cannot surf the web as the packet loss are at 30 -50%
