They are very important points, I read here (I Think) that on one of their days off, ROG and P Wallace spent the day in Croker practicing their kicking. that speaks volumes for the professionlism of these players and desire to be the best they can be.

It says something about his work ethic. Surely he realised at 16 he needed to learn to place kick if he wanted to play rugby at 10, even at an amateur level (or to win the schools cup;) )

What does it say about ROGs work ethic? He only realised at 26 he needed to work harder on his game.

Micky - it was ROG & Tomas O'Leary who spent their day practicising their kicks on their day off. Paddy Wallace wasn't there (an Irish Times reporter who happened to be up in Croke Park, reported it).

He can place kick. He's had a few bad kicking performances which isn't helped by the fact he doesn't get to place kick at a high level with any regularity.

Maybe Sexton was practising his kicking in the RDS that day as well. Maybe the reporter just didn't see Wallace. You're reading far far far too much into one off-handed comment from a reporter. I have no doubt that all the above mentioned players are hard working professionals.

    Cheers,
I can just imagine ROG dragging O' Leary out of bed :pac:

O'Gara had a lot of aspects to improve in his game which he obviously worked hard on as most around here don't rate him much.

At the age of 26 (at random) O'Gara had been the OH that had won a few games away in France (including an away win to Toulouse), missed a kick that cost Munster a Heineken Cup against Northampton, had been on one Lions Tour in '01, and was about to go on his second Lions Tour. Not to mention having to compete to be first choice OH for Ireland.

They were with the Ireland kicking coach Mark Taunton. The rest of the squad were given the day off by Kidney (and seemed to have taken it).

Doug Howlett was seen fetching balls in Thomond Park when the building was going on and Howlett was newly arrived in Munster. Apparently ROG had brought him up to Thomond Park so that ROG could practice his place kicking. (Apparently the Health & Safety weren't a bit happy about Howlett fetching balls from the rubble :D).
