    hi,

one of my nephews stuck his finger in his brother's eye. he is ok for a few minutes at a time but then starts again. my sister thinks the eyeball is cut but can't see anything.
should it just be left alone?
what have you guys done in such a case?

    thanks.

It does sound like he's scratched the outer covering of the eye with his nail or something. I did this myself when I was a teenager. It eases off for ten minutes or so at a time and then it comes back, feels like your eyeball is on fire.

It sorts out itself in a couple of days but I would strongly suggest going to a doctor or opthamologist who can make sure that there's no damage and maybe give you an eyepatch and/or some anaesthetic drops.

I called my optician. she said even a tiny scratch would cause pain. she said 'better to be save than sorry' about taking him to doctor which sounded quite like 'he'll be fine but don't blame me because I didn't examine it'.

    Get to a doctor,,,,

My better half caught his eye on a homemade paddys day card a while back and he was in so much pain he had to go to a & e - he had torn through the cornea.

Its the worse pain iver ever seen him in and hed be a tough guy.
