Club Competition

Photography club I'm a member of is holding its first annual competition in April, so I'm looking for a little help in choosing my shots. Entries are limited to a minimum of three, and a maximum of five and must be mounted on 20" X 16" antique white board. Below are a selection of my favourite shots, so I'd be interested in hearing people's views of which to submit, or any others from Pix which might suit a competition better.

9) An old shot, really needs a boost in saturation.

1a is interesting I think and 3a is nice although abit cliche. The eagle shots have potential but they don't look natural - this have been worked on by photoshop I'd say have they?

I like the swans in the river myself they're lovely. Whats the brief for the competition?

My favs would be 1a,2,3a, 6a & 8a with 2 & 8a being absolute favs. Good luck

My favourites are
1b, 2, 3a, 4a, 6a, (8b would eb a brilliant shot if, as you said yourself, it had the full reflection in it.)

I guess it depends on the brief for the competition which ones you would choose.

Thanks all for the comments. As it's the club's first competition, they have left the theme totally open. There would normally be a set Club Challenge at every meeting and put to a popular vote like on here. However, this will be judged and marked by an external judge.

So far, I'd be leaning towards 2 and maybe 8a. I can never get 5 or 7 to print well.

Great shots, I like 1a, 3a, 6a and 7. Also 9 because it must be the same boat as my photo here! Good luck!

I've been looking to retake the viking shot for ages, but someone has a teddy-bear stuffed into the mouth, so you can't get the silhouette.

Is your EXIF data right, as it says taken on March 1st. I went into town the other evening having seen your teddy-less shot, but it's still there!

Yeah the EXIF data is right, I cloned out the teddy because I also wanted the silhouette. It was just too much of a stretch to grab the teddy out of it's mouth!

5 is not your typical swan-in-water photo so i like it for that. i think the vignetting works well.

2 is very good also but my personal preference would be to straighten up the converging verticals.
