We've a BT 3 meg line in Dublin 2. Quality of the service has been very poor in patches. Reasonable at other times. Been away for a week and now there appears to be something else wrong.

Web pages are taking an absolute age to load up ie. google.com is taking twenty plus seconds.

Yet, according to Speedtest our download and upload speeds are faster than I've ever seen it.

Any idea what's going on? Any advice welcome. I'd sort of got used to the heavy contention and slow download speed. But this is ridiculous. How can it be getting slower and tests showing it getting faster? :(

    Cheers

Your ping is pretty dire, how were your ping times before? Can You run a treacet to www.boards.ie in command prompt and post the results

Sorry, typo, its tracert, instead of ping use tracert
    tracert www.boards.ie

Although Your 18-20ms pings to boards seem normal now, run pings and tracert when you feel slowdowns. Could also be a Bt dns issue, You could change to opendns to see if it resolves addresses quicker. Also post your line stats by logging into your router.

    Another speedtest
    435597503.png

How do I find the line settings? Am logged into the router now and can't see them (Netgear rangemax)

Changed to open dns there (had open dns before but forgot to change it back after changing setup). Pings are still crap though

I've no idea of the layout of a Netgear router to get your stats, someone with one might help

Your pings and tracerts from commandline look fine. Speedtest ping times are way off at times, this must be one of those times.
