Well, that was worth the effort, wasn't it?

I've seen better tackles in my daughter's Camogie matches!

And they get paid for doing it?

Started watching Dexter last night and I have to say I was blown away by it. Head and shoulders above anything else(except for Madmen). Gets a big thumbs up from me.

It's even better than Madmen (which I'm also a fan of)
There is one dodgy season out of all the Dexters but it really is top notch and if you like Dexter you should check out Breaking Bad.

So next weekend I'm now going to have to watch the semi-final in Amsterdam, cheering for Wales, in the house of a French friend.

Which season ? At the end of every one I wonder where they can go from here but the writers keep managing it.

Loved the first season of Breaking Bad, don't know why FX didn't bother with the subsequent ones though.

Second season of Boardwalk Empire back tonight.

Havn't been inspired by Boardwalk empire, I've watched the first 2 episodes of season 2 and it's OK but it certainly is lacking sth imo.

I've seen 3 seasons of Breaking bad and am on the 4th and it's gripping, love the show.
Regarding Dexter it was last season (no 5) just wasn't on the same level as before bar the first episode (I think)

End of season 6 was pretty rubbish too, but that is standard for US shows trying to tie it up in a nice happy ending.

That sounds like the one I'm on about.

This was in the parkrun newsletter this week, fairly well written (for a woman :D) and i thought it was worth sharing.

    The View from the Back

Although the road ahead is long
My running mantra keeps me strong
“I’m long and strong and tall and lean,
    I run like a well-oiled machine.
    People can’t believe their eyes
    On noticing my slimline thighs.
And those who see me as I run
Admire the firmness of my bum”
OK, so that’s a pack of lies,
But, hey, a girl can fantasise.

    Burning lungs and face aglow
I puff and wheeze but on I go
    I know I’m looking quite a mess
Here at the back - may I digress
To say that Lycra is no friend
To those of us with big rear ends -
So now I feel with every stride
The jiggle of my large backside
And know I must look such a sight
    With all that wobbly cellulite

But though I’m running at the back
I’m proud to be part of the pack
No matter what the finish time
It’s the same distance to the line
And there it is, the end in sight
A few more yards and then respite
The final sprint (or rather, stagger)
    Then I’m a happy goody-bagger.
My medal’s hung around my neck,
My blisters burst, my toenails wrecked

Yet I’ve a smile upon my face
So proud that I have run the race
My sense of pride does not diminish
On finding out I’m last to finish
For after all, I’ve beaten those,
Who still recline in sweet repose
    Within the sofa’s warm embrace
And never dare take on a race
I may be last, but I take heart -
They didn’t even reach the start".

That's good Brian, a Fanfare For The Common Runner.

I was pottering along with my C25K group last night. One lady was a bit glum having fallen away behind the others. I said something to the effect of 'Don't compare yourself to those in front, compare yourself to all those that couldn't hope to do what you're doing tonight, those with their feet up in front of the telly' etc, pretty trite stuff.

Well, she was a different person for the last few minutes of the run, chatting, chest out, speeding up even. I think we often overlook the little personal achievements in our sport at the lower levels.

    Stone Roses reunited :)

Surprised that this is happening. There's rumours about this EVERY year. Not sure about the whole new material thing, it could ruin all the greatness of the original stuff.

Thgough this was funny (if a little old!)

Maybe the lads think Ian has taken enough singing lessons at this stage and are ready to give him another chance.

+1. Never seen them live but have a couple of their live gigs on video and he is $hite.

In more important news the euphoria pf the return of the stone roses has been tempered with the loss of one of Ireland's finest groups. Westlife your ballads will be sorely missed.

To be honest I can't understand why they're splitting up. The feckers are absolutely coining it. No way they will do anything solo wise. The magic only comes together when the 4 of them take to the stage.

Any United fans online, or are they all hiding in their rat holes?
I'd love to discuss the Joy of Six! :D

Could yet be a bad weekend of "football" for the Glazer family with their other team playing at Wembley now.

A helpline has been set up for distressed Manchester United fans. The number is 01 61 61 61

That joke works all the better if you know that the Manchester phone area code is 0161. :)

Then again, most of the bandwagon jumpers will have different phoen numbers ...

I'm happy to discuss Liverpool's failure to secure 3 points at home to Norwich, thereby losing ground to their main rivals for 4th (Spurs and Arsenal). Not a Utd fan btw.

    I find this one good:

A text to all Utd Fans:
"Your 19 scarfs and flags will make ideal xmas gifts to City fans if turned upside down"

My only fear is Utd play my team Everton next weekend:mad:

I know, I had to remove a 61 to fit it in with the Irish phone system.

This was posted on the soccer forum. Very funny
