The hard weather is not conducive to shooting bunnies. was out the other day and only shot two, the only two I saw, so they're sitting tight underground. By all means take the dog and the gun and have a ramble, but if you're going out looking to kill rabbits rather than enjoy the walk, I don't see you getting too many. Of course, I could be completely wrong, in which case, good luck and have fun. :)

Ah yea, do often just go around the fields with the dog. Actually two weeks ago was out just for a walk. He rose 3 pheasants. If it had only been in season:D. Left after that as i didn want him to disturb any hens. Sometimes its just as good going for the walks.

The shoots of the corn or barley, whatever it is, are out of the ground. Thought they might be at them. Yea looking forward to when the weather gets finer:D.

    ignorance can never be excused,

rabbits have no season as there classed as vermin ,but for many including me they are the back bone of hunting in ireland .
i would give them total respect as a quarry .
where needs be i would shoot them hard .
but i would have 4-6 in on the lawn every morning and enjoy looking at them over a coffee .

Went out this morning but the clock change messed me up a bit.
Parked up the car at the entrance to the field and got geared up. I was nervous about the dog as this would have been his first time out after bunnys. He seemed eager, sniffing every bolt hole as we walked down the lane. When we got to the opening i could see a rabbit in the distance. The wind was a slight breeze coming towards us. After about 5 mins he flushed a rabbit but it went back into the ditch before i could raise the gun. It caught me by surprize. We kept walking the ditches and within another 5 mins he had another one out. I was ready and droppped him. After two laps of the field the rain was on its way. The dog did flush out 4 more but shots were to dangerous to take( into ditch, towards road etc). I know i had the chance to get more but i enjoyed the morning and was happy to have bagged the one. I think if i did get the other 4 i would have enjoyed it the same as just one. It was nice to see the dog working well and nice to get out on a fresh morning.
