my mam is looking to get broadband and i've checked her line and its ok. she is in mayo. the thing is she has her line rental paid for already so the cheapest package from eircom is 50 bills a month. will she be charged the 50 or will it be minus the line rental? thanks

most providers will give you a prive for the DSL on it's own outside of a bundle it's possbale to get a DSL service form a completly different provider to the one your paying line rental too

My parents used to have all services with BT. The line rental cost was subtracted from the bill.

I would say call Eircom to confirm but I am about 95% certain she still won't have to pay it.

A friend of mine is getting broadband sorted for his gran, who is entitled to free line rental from the dept. of social & family affairs. He's ordering the eircom bundle with free meteor calls for her. When I asked him about the telephone allowance, he said that eircom will deduct the allowance from the cost of the bill, so he'll only have to pay €22 or €23 for the package he's getting.

    So you should be fine:)

Also, perlico have this on their website: http://www.perlico.com/offers/socialwelfare.aspx
