regional broadband questions

Have wireless regional broadband. I have receiver box on roof and radio signal box (size of your thumb) plugged into pc.just 2 questions.. I had 1mb speed but upgraded to 2mb. it does be up and down as usual but quite good most times. I think maybe it was quicker with 1 mb. Would this be at all possible that when i had…

Also my friends house is in the middle of 3 houses. Houses either side can get broadband, he was told he cant? Why would this be when the other 2 can??
