Will an antenna improve signal?

    Hi guys,

I'm living in Germany, and have a t-mobile 3G USB stick (it's a Huawei E176). Out and about, the UMTS/HSPA signal is great, and I get very nice speeds. However, I can only connect to the GPRS network while in my apartment (it's a big concrete building). If I place the stick by the window, I get an infrequent 1 bar of UMTS signal.

So, I notice that the USB stick has a port for an antenna. If I were to get an antenna - an indoor or window one - how much impact can it be expected to have on signal strength? Is there anything I should be aware of in particular when shopping for one?

The chances are it will improve your signal. It is very unlikely to increase your speed/signal by alot though.

The only sure way to know is to borrow one from someone and see if it makes a difference.. Or just buy one..
