Looking at the schedule for the Porterhouse Irish Beer & Whiskey Festival, there are a couple of fun Bushmills events next week.

On Wednesday 1st April there'll be a tasting table in the Temple Bar Branch from 8 to 9.30 with free tastes of Original, Black Bush, 10yr and 16yr.

There'll be free Bushmills & Ginger given out by Diageo-hired magicians(!?), in Temple Bar at 9.30 on Wednesday, in Nassau Street at 8.30 on Thursday and at 10 on Thursday in Glasnevin.

But the really interesting one, I thought, is at 6pm on Wednesday in Lillie's Bordello. You pay for a measure of the 16yr which gets you in to the seminar where Diageo's "spirits ambassador to Ireland" Martin Duffy will take you through Busmills Original, Black Bush, 10yr, 16yr, 21yr and 1608 over an hour and a half. Afterwards, you get to drink the shot of 16yr you bought earlier.

    Is the schedule online somewhere?

Dear me no. That would make sense, and might encourage people to attend. No, it was hidden towards the back of the press bundle given out at the festival launch on Monday evening.

I'd be interested to know if the information does actually make it into the "proper" media anywhere.

For more details, ask at the bar, I guess.

Strange, isn't it? The current Whiskey of the Month promotion is hush-hush too. It's on, but there is no way to know where.

Sounds great, I'll strive to be there. Thanks for the heads up BeerNut.
