    I was in a Meteor shop about a week ago and the salesperson told me that Meteor has to restrict its user numbers to comply with a Comreg ruling on the issue. He also told me this would stop Meteor oversubscribing the network.

    Does anyone know if this is true, or is it just old fluff from the sales guy?

    most likely old fluff from the sales guy, have three or o2 or vodafone ever told anyone they were not allowed sell them a product because of ComReg rules?

    There are contention restrictions on FIXED wireless. No regulation or conditions or minimum standards apply to Mobile Data.

    They have a Mobile PHONE 3G licence that requires them to have a vague 144k & 384k coverage.

    They have no Comreg or other imposed limits on Quality of Service or Contention. Nor is it likely that if limits existed that they would be proactively policed.

    Go here
    http://www.comreg.ie/radio_spectrum/search.541.874.10003.0.rslicensing.html

    Scroll to bottom. Meteor is eircom licence. It's not published yet, but you can read the O2, 3 and Vodafone licences:
    http://www.comreg.ie/_fileupload/publications/ComReg0417.pdf
    http://www.comreg.ie/_fileupload/publications/ComReg0416.pdf
    http://www.comreg.ie/_fileupload/publications/ComReg0418.pdf

    04 = 2004
    17 = 17th publication
    So
    http://www.comreg.ie/_fileupload/publications/ComReg0902.pdf is the 2nd document this year
    http://www.comreg.ie/_fileupload/publications/ComReg08100.pdf is the 100th document last year

    If you are bored you can experiment to see is there anything interesting published they have neglected to link to.

    I think there should really be secret shoppers in the BB area.
