Would there be any merit in transferring a UK pension balance to an Irish scheme? It's a personal pension scheme set up after contracting out of the state second pension (was known as SERPS).No contributions have been made for over a decade and the balance is circa £5000stg.The charges are £1.50 per month policy fee and 0.9% annual management charge.

    Any opinions on this?

Have a look at the options that are available. Standard Life might have a suitable product here. Some people like to close off UK pensions and have their money here. This is not a recommendation one way or the other.
