    Ok,
I'm a Complete noob at this i told my mate i do some sh1ty gig for him in "Images night club in Gort, Galway." I'm mad into music and would love to be a dj i'm young enough still in my teens .

Ok i do a bit of mixing using audacity and mess around with that.
I've got a sh1t load of songs on Itunes . I have all the playlists made that i want to use on my laptop..

My main Question is can i just go to the venue and plug my laptop into some jack or something and start playing tunes or do i need some wires or what else do i need to start doing some small gigs in different venues .. Any help Would be GREATLY appreciated .. :D:eek::eek::eek:

You might be able to hook up stright from 3.5mm jack(On your laptop) to RCA or 1/4" jack.

You'll need software though, iTunes will have gaps between the tracks, DJing software allows you to beatmatch and mix the ends of tracks together. TBH, I'd suggest not trying a live performance before you're practised for a serious amount of time. I'm 18 myself and just starting at this whole thing, but if you dont know about the relevant cables even, then I'd suggest you google some guides and start from there.

If you want to start small, you can get dual iPod systems that use one ipod for each deck/channel and have a fader and a few controls. Costs circa €100 per unit.

You are not ready for a gig. Seriously you need alot of practice and if you plan on using your laptop you will need a soundcard ,solid software(serato, torq, traktor, ableton) and a midi controller.

Search Youtube for help, A good site for learning is http://www.djtutor.com or http://www.djrecess.co.uk

    Good Luck

edit: i dissagree with the above post the dual ipod idea is a waste of money.

buy a vci-100 or an xponent from http://www.thomann.de

Yeah, the ipod deal is only good for recreational use.

And Thomann.de are the ones to buy from. Seem to be one of the best retailers out there from my limited experience.
