    Rest In Peace Robert,

my condolences to your family, friends, and station party, while i did not know you, from speaking to colleagues who did, you were a good man, who did not deserve to die in such a manner.

It is evident you will be greatly missed by all who knew you.

this was so incredably sad to hear - for his poor family - it was so tragic - so young so sad -

i hope if there even an ounce left of justice in this country the perpetrators and put away for a very very long time - and a message sent out to no brainers that you cant get away with your lack of brains and stupidity a family is without their son only for that eegit...lets start being proactive not inactive on our stance for these fools who do it cause they know they can get away with it..

Deepest sympathy for the family and colleagues , such a terrible loss to all.

When will the judges stop giving these scumbags a belly rub, and start handing down realistic sentences. This was attempted murder, and the bloke is told to attend school every day???

I am full of admiration for all of you, dealing on a daily basis with people the rest of us wouldnt want to share a foot path with.
I dont know how you all do it , but Im thankful you do.

    A member of the public

RIP Robert, I was so sad to hear he didn't pull through. It's a crying shame that he lost his life the way he did, for simply doing his job and serving his community. Too many people are quick to criticise us for doing our job, but yet not enough of them realise that often our colleagues die in the line of duty.
My heart goes out to his family.

What a truly depressing yet oh so typical account of Irish daily life from today`s Irish Independent.

    http://www.independent.ie/national-news/caller-to-home-of-dead-garda-was-suspicious-1708420.html

Yet another example of a parallell culture of preying upon those in their darkest hour which is rather too prevalent for many to accept.

I think many posters here would be aware of how these people operate, but it surely cuts to the bone when we see just how ready the perpetrators are to strike even in a high profile case such as this.

What a sad reflection on where modern Ireland stands. :(

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

    Charles Mackay (1812-1889)

No surprises there. And these "suspicious" people wonder why society rejects them so much. Absolute vermin, the lot of them...

Just like to say; fair play to all who travelled down to the funeral! It was a fantastic show of support to both his family and his colleagues from the divison, both at the removal and the funeral the next day! The slow march up the main street was a moment that will stick with me for a long time to come.

Again, well done to all members concerned! Im sure it meant alot to all involved!

Cant understand the reasoning behind these people who take these cars and then cause mayhem for everyone while they enjoy the so called joyriding. iI wonder how much joy they would be shouting if one of their family were hit but one of these stolen cars.
