Have a small lawn in between paving and decking. A small portion of it has never grown properly(2 yrs since lanscaped) i think its because whenever it rains that area seems to collect the water. Last year around this time I put loads of grass seed down but didnt really work. Anything else I can try.

Well first you would have to help the drainage. With either a small drain if the area is big or try areating it and putting sand down the holes.
