Sat Nav with USA Maps

Heading to the US for a road trip and therefore need USA maps. I have a garmin which can take maps - does anyone know the cheapest place to purchase? Or else, a used sat nav with US maps on it might be cheaper? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.
