Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    ROUND 1
    1. Who wears the no.10 shirt for Chelsea?

    2. Who is France’s most capped player (142 Caps)?

    3. Who is the player indicated by the (?) and who is the team indicated by the (**)? (1 point for each)

(?) could use both of his feet equally to pass or shoot, which when combined with his loyalty made him a (**) fans' favourite. His renown spread worldwide as a regular scorer of spectacular goals, often seemingly created "from nothing", and often when (**) were in trouble of relegation. For this ability he became known simply as "Le God" among (**) supporters. In one famous incident, the television commentator responded to one of his most skillful efforts with the single word "Unbelievable!", which later became the title for a successful "video autobiography" of the player. Critics condemned (?) as a 'luxury player' whose talent was hampered by not covering enough of the pitch, in an era when "work rate" was much respected. In retrospect, it is probably more accurate to see (?) as relying on his natural skills to compensate for his "lazy" style of play, and to what was undoubtedly a persistent weight problem. His commitment to a financially less-well-off club like (**) was unusual in the money-driven world of football. In his autobiography he told of rejecting moves to AC Milan and Chelsea, (the latter having been managed at the time by Glenn Hoddle, who later rejected him as an England player), and tore up a contract he signed with Tottenham Hotspur in 1991.

    4. Who missed out on the 2002 world cup after severing a tendon in his toe from dropping an aftershave bottle on it?

    106, ---54
    2007 -, Atletico Madrid,
    57,

    6. Who are ‘The Mariners’?

    7. What number does Zoran Tosic wear for Manchester United?

    8. Who is the only player to have played in the World Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup, all four levels of English League football, the English Conference and La Liga.?

I guessed it was Dalyer even though its years since I've been there the outskirts and the entrance looked too familiar. I would not recognise any of the ground apart from them dodgy floodlights and the covered stand.

I got that as well and I was surprised I did,the big building at the shopping center is a give away and the car park at the back.

I don't want to get into any sort of argument but it is disappointing that some people, for whatever reason, couldn't recognise Ireland's second most famous football ground (after Lansdowne).

I knew it was either Dalymount or Tolka Park, just wanst sure which as I have never been to either, and have never hovered 50 metres above either.

Bah, I had 1992 down for the backpass rule and changed it at the least second.

The Bale/Richards/Bridge/Walcott one is a bit dodgy as there's multiple answers.

    Good buzz overall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,001 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

ship the super guessing in the last round and I had a right answer to the Richards/Walcott/Bridge/Bale one as well even though it was not the one Caroller was looking for. Walcott is not a defender the other three are all defenders.

And whats with that Hull question. lol.
