Cheeky. It's uploaded now. Should already be on iTunes.

Composing the podcast page for boards right now.

The content management system for the podcast seems to be on the fritz.

    Here's the iTunes link:

The link to the file itself:

We mentioned you getting nude at the Spire. I remember that much anyway.

listening to that now. DeVore then segues into talking about the photography exhibit and my face just dropped.

    Nice work monkeyd00d, and DeV.

    Informative and engaging stuff.

You're only saying that because he answered your question.

None of mine were answered and I'm really pissed off. Damn censorship. I blame monkeyfudge and his awesome interview skills.

    The last bit is fact.

Any idea when this will be aired on RTÉ?

It is a world incased in itself.

    Say we, instead of I.

The members made it, not you :)

    Troll, troll, troll your boat.

    Anyway.

Boards was and is based upon the critical mass of the users, but the vision behind it has, consistently, been DeV's. I'm deliberately not throwing out the oft used phrase "teh_admins" here, because although others have come and gone for varying reasons-mostly the latter) DeV has been omnipresent (in fact he's the only flippin' one here these days), sometimes enthusing about ideas that are doomed to obscurity, sometimes prioritising that which later gets, well, unprioritised, sometimes putting down trolls (heard of 'em?) with indefatigable logic, but always with a clear and concise train of thought for where things are in relation to boards., and where they are going.

So, um, "boards.", what have you done to make "it"?

DeV's comments about boards affecting politics are interesting, but I'd love to know why he thinks, considering AH, that thats a good thing?
Just read the average AH thread, and you will find incredible ignorance there.

EDIT: Woohoo, my question got asked!!
And I meant how you felt about the fact that boards ended up creating children, not if you feel ownership. (Although there are a suspicious number of babies called Tom).

    Yes, many with gay hair.

As regards boards affecting politics, I rather think it's the other way around. Common societal trends will make themselves apparent on a forum like boards, and more precisely, when non specific topics are concerned, like AH.

I know you don't mean to T_M, but AH bashing can at times seem to me rather elitist. As I say speaking generally, it's something I've noticed (along with moans that the site isn't what it used to be etc.).

At the end of the day, many people are pissed of with feckless skangers and nigerian economic "refugees" giving the two fingers to our system, the lack of hot Polish barmaids recently, the concept of recession (a new phenomenon to most of AH's boards' majority demographic), and white dog poo. Ergo, such things are what, on the largest general topic internet discussion forum in Ireland, will get talked about.

Don't get me wrong. I love AH. I really do.

It just pisses me off at the same time, and I can't help feeling that if the more unsavory positions of AH (the blatent racism etc) are espoused often enough, then things like racism and authoritarianism will re-enter acceptable public debate.

Its just hard to stomach at times.

So often really, really, stupid, sometimes untrue things are said, and they aren't rebutted, or are only rebutted five pages later.

Edit: We pionered the user interaction thread.
Also, I typed most of this without looking. Yay me.
Edit 2: **** it. I pioneered the user interaction thread. I just didn't post it because it was up to the Cmod. All credit goes to me.

+1. You don't have to like it but you don't have to make a point of letting everyone know you don't like it. There are plenty of forums I think are full of very immature people but I don't go telling everyone because... get this... I'm mature enough not to.
As I say speaking generally, it's something I've noticed (along with moans that the site isn't what it used to be etc.).

I also speak generally and this is most definitely not aimed at The Minister. In fact it's not really aimed at anybody in particular. I'm just venting. :)

AH replicates public opinions and pub conversations to a certain extent. In fact it mirrors society in general in many ways. Leaving out the obvious nonsense threads and the trolls, it's probably a better barometer of public opinion on general topics than any other forum here.

So if the general public has racists, you can bet AH will have racists. Blatant racism is not allowed obviously but some people are better at voicing racialistical opinions while not exactly breaking the letter of the law. Those cases are harder to police.

I'm happy to say that AH reflects society warts and all. That society contains some ****ty people is society's problem. The nastier elements of AH are just a symptom.

As for the rebuttal thing, look at it this way: If a bunch of lads said something inaccurate to each other down the pub and nobody who knew better was there to correct them, then they'll never get corrected. On Boards, there will always be someone there to correct them even if they do come late to the party. 5 pages late is better than never.

In fact we sometimes get necro threads dragged up so someone can refute a particular point.

Anyway I've rambled long enough. What the hell does this have to do with the Boardscast? Nothing. That's what. But thanks for the feedback. :)

P.S. My question which was probably the most trivial and stupid of them all got asked. \o/ Also I want royalties for that Nice 4 thing. ;)

Thanks monkeyfudge,I enjoyed listening to that.
    Pity it wasn't longer.
I wish I could have seen you all in the Matrix outfits and Santa hats delivering those presents to the hospital, must have put the poor security guards heart crossways.

Yeah. Sorry about that. I was pressed for time as I had a meeting in town to get to afterward.

No bother, I enjoyed it so much I didn't notice the time go by.
I really should have worded that a bit better.:o

Ah no... it's grand. I would have loved to have gotten to more questions.

Having the cameras in your face can make things a tad uncomfortable though.

Maybe this part of the conversation should be moved to a seperate thread?

True off topic on my part(slaps himself:)) In any case I've shot my bolt so that's all I've got.:)

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

"things like racism and authoritarianism will re-enter acceptable public debate."

Preferable to being told what to think.

Can I say that? Is it OK? Maybe it can be edited to suit 2009

If you look a few threads down, you will find a thread (started by me after DeVine split it off) where I expanded a little bit on my worries.
