corluka has been quality all season.

    He really hasn't.

He has been good for large patches of the season, outstanding on occasion, but he has let us down badly as well, is last week's collapse against United that far back that we've forgotten how he was like a lost boy up against Rooney?

There were times early in the season, both under Ramos and Redknapp, when he was caught napping, he needs to stay switched on 100% and I think he allows his mind to wander at times, which is unforgivable for a player so one-paced that he can't make up lost ground that easily.

corluka would easily walk into a top 4 team at right back.

If that was the case we'd have had competition for his signature back in August, he was City's best player last year.

well united have john o shea, brown, neville and rafeal to play at right back, chelsea have bosingwa, ivanovic, belleti, ferreira, arsenal have eboue and sagna, liverpool have arbeloa, carragher when needed and they had a deal wraped up for degan before last season ended. all have massive depth at right back which is why nobody would have made an offer. everyone bar bosingwa corluka is better than.

Harry reveals transfer policy - Spurs boss searching for recruits with proven quality

Harry Redknapp aims to sign players in their 'prime' in the summer rather than youngsters with potential.

Tottenham have previously invested in the likes of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Giovani dos Santos, who were both rated as extremely bright prospects for the future.

Neither player was able to hold down a regular starting role at White Hart Lane and they have spent time out on loan this season.

Redknapp is now planning to change the club's transfer policy and bring in more experienced players who are capable of making an instant impact. Spurs have had a promising second half to the season but Redknapp is already considering which areas he needs to strengthen.

"You have to keep moving forward," said the manager. "I just want players who can come in and make us a better team. "The players that I have in mind are playing very well and are in their prime."

    Levy meeting

Redknapp is confident that Spurs will improve next season if he can land the transfer targets he has in mind, with the experienced tactician set to meet chairman Daniel Levy in the next few days.

"I'll sit down with the chairman this week and have a chat and see where we go," he explained. "I've got one or two people I'd like to bring in, whether we can get them I don't know. "If we could get the couple of players I'd like I think we'd be a good side next year."

Can't believe people slagging off Corluka who has arguably been our most consistent player this season. Only player who didn't need time to settle in. Even when we were rubbish at the start he was still good. Sure not much of a wing back but this is because his preffered position is CB which is why he left city for Spurs because he couldn't play his preffered position. Up there for player of the season IMO.

Anyway i'm not thinkin who we could bring in though I agree McGeady not Duff could be fantastic for us and I would love to nick Martins off the barcodes WHEN they go down. He would be good with an actually good midfield behind him.

What about Dos Santos. Played 8 for Ipswich...scored 4 and from what i'm hearing from my Ipswich supporting mates playing fantastic even without the goals. So good Keane is saying they don't think he should be playing that level of football. I thought the reason he wasn't doing it for us was with his coping with how physical the Prem is not because of his blatent talent. If he is able to do the business in the kick'em league that is the Championship surely we should look as to what we can do with him next season.

I think the question is "what" do we need rather than who - lets answer that first.

I am gonna start off by saying, this all really depends on who leaves first! So I will make my comments based on nobody has left, so the team we have now - By the way, i think this is the best option for Harry, I think he should work really hard on keeping players and building a consistant team - look how well we have done with a stable squad last few months!

So back to my original question of "what do we need"?

I think we need cover at LB - sorry I don't think Bale is a LB, and I don't think he ever will be! We have nobody else (Gilberto is a waste of space, and will go anyway) so we need cover for the excelent and much improved BAE (my player of the season!)

CB - I think with Dawson, Corluka, King, Woody and Dervete we have enogh cover for the season.

RB, Hutton, Corluka, Gunter, Chimbo (althogh I would say chimbo will leave) should be more than enough, and IMO, they are all capable LB players (and Zok if you want?)

RW, lennon, Bentley, Tarrabt, Gio, Rose Bostock - again, should be enough - Lennon in great form, Bentley could still come good, he does have a great right foot, and Gio and Tarrbt can play either wing, and we have some great youngsters who are great wingers!

CM, well palacios for sure as number one, but who with him, we do have options, Zok, JJ, Modric, Hudd, O'Hara?? to name but a few - again, if nobody leaves, we have enough!

LW, this is the tricky one, Modric is playing there, but more becasue we have so many CM players, it is not his natual position but he has done well - Harry is going to have a headach with this one as if he brings in a LW, Modric will HAVE to take one of the CM slots, and where does that leave the other lads? personanly I think we need a pacey LW who can cross to give us options, and for me that is not Modric, so we need one - let Harry worry about who will get left out in CM, but this would really balance the team.

Up front all covered - Defoe, Pav, keane, bent, Obika - why would we need more, again depend who leaves.

Goal - Cudicini and Gomes are good enough for me!

So basically, it all depends if we have leavers, but for me, if nobody leaves, just LW

I agree Tevez would be great! Just for his skill and work rate alone.

I think Diego would be an absolutely amazing signing though. I know we have plenty in that position but imagine Diego! The flair and skill would be unbelievable. We saw what he is capable of in the Werder v. Hamburg in the uefa cup.

Darijo Srna would be a good buy too purely for versatility. He can play practically anywhere!

in some of the tabloids cisse is the one were being linked with. prefer what we have to be honest

  • Registered Users Posts: 266 ✭✭froosh69

WOW...just imagine getting Tevez...funny though, I just can't see him leaving Utd before Berba...he's been so much better.
Probelm is, Liverpool are looking at adding a stiker since we got keane back, and I can imagine him at Liverpool next season.

Cisse wouldn't be too bad...He's very strong and physical strength is something we lack up front...

Tevez would be unreal though...my god...getting excited now!

couldn't see tevez going from 2 champion league finals to no European football at all

He is your only man this Summer:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 150 ✭✭whitey21

Lads, with him only on loan at united since he is still owned by Kia Jorbaocaian(or whatever his name is), he'd only be goin on a loan to any club, and if Harry can 'guarantee him' regular 1st team football, i think he'd be up for it!
I cant see him startin regularly anywhere else in top 4 but possibly liverpool, but no striker has done well there in a long time beside torres! If he has half a brain, he should be givin auld 'arry a ring :p
Harry is not a guy that will give a guy a place because he's his friend! he'll do for the good of the team and too succeed i.m.o!

Harry would get the best from him..

I had hopes for the guy too, but he's only 19 and a big future in front of him! Never knew much of the guy when he was in Cardiff, so he was a big shock signing for me! Best of luck to the guy anyway!

Does anyone think we should make a move for James Mc Carthy from scottish side Hamilton,Voted young player of the year in Scotland recently he's a strong rooney type of player from what i hear.his club has allready turned down a £500,000 offer for him from another scots club and Celtic are said to have made an offer also that was turned down,i think there looking for 1mil for him, that would not be beyond Spurs..

  • Registered Users Posts: 248 ✭✭theduffer

i think that hes a life long celtic fan and wants to play for them, so i dont know how much chance there is of him coming to spurs. Good to see that hes played for ireland underage teams. id expect a "shock" call up to the seinors side so he will get the 1 cap for ireland and secure the player as an irish player just like McGeady a few years ago :)

apparently we're being linked with Muntari, Roque Santa Cruz and Cisse...I can see those guys replacing Bentley, Bent and Pav...

Should be an interesting summer alright.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,375 ✭✭✭Antisocialiser

what sort of money can we really expect for bentley? he has had ample opportunity to prove his worth and has been nothin short of a flop, the only way we are gettin rid of him would be to a mediocre club who will make an offer of well below what we paid for him... his attitude seems to be terrible too.

As for bent i dare to say he is a spent force for us at least destined to be playin for wolves or birmingham next season in which he'll probably be their top man.

    I hope pav stays.

bentley has had o game time at all since jan. something like 10 mins total. i can see the club selling lennon for 20 mill plus in the summer and keeping bentley. were not going to recoup the 16 mill we spent on him so the only way i see him moven is on loan or for a massive loss

I seriously doubt we'll sell Lennon - there would be blue murder if this happened, after Keane and Berbatov last year. Lennon will stay, we'll pick up another midfielder, rearrange our striking options, and possibly pick up another defender, but outside that I think, or at least hope, we won't be changing things around too much.

if we get an offer and Lennon wants to go Levy wil sell him to teh highest bidder. Levy has no balls as he proved last season letting the other 2 go without having adequete replacements lined. Contrast Levy's abject inaction to how Villa handles the Gareth Barry situation.

after yesterdays display pav is gone....................anyone disagree ?

ive been saying it all season that he is too laid back for prem........the gooners choice of russian has hit the ground running !

2 target men to replace pav and bent and all will be good
