Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just a thread for all the 'other' internationals.

Watched Japan V Bahrain earlier, good contrast of strength V skill. Won by a sublime free from Nakamura (who else!)

AT the moment watching Uzbekistan V Qatar. Uzbekistan are a million times better then Quatar, 4-0 so far, with the boy Farhod getting a hattrick. A few nice goals, but very poor defending. Later on in the game Qatar have started to come into it a bit, but in reality its just the Uzbeks taking it easy i think.

Next on my list is the second half of the Kenya Tunisia match!

Ooo, number 6 for the uzbeks just went on a savage run, just waay faster then the full back. Deserved a better finish from the onrushing midfielder, but he dallied on the ball and put in a tame shot

Tunisia just missed a sitter on the back post. Still winning 1 nil anyway. Only half watching, works after gettin busier :(

On another note, pitch is a bit of a state.

    <edit>
Kenya just got a very nice goal

Left winger sped up and pulled the ball back nicely for a good finish. 1-1

If only we can, no VDS any more is a slight worry.

    15 world cup qualifiers unbeaten.

    Who's number 1 keeper now?

Kenya just missed a sitter, free header in front of goal, this games really picked up in the last while, very scrappy and the ball is bobbling a lot on the pitch, but all actually pretty entertaining. Kenyans happy to just chase and harry all day, while the tunisians are trying to be more clever. Kenyans do hoof it a but too much though.

Wales v Finland - crap so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,106 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

    watching that now too.

Bellers showed a nice bit of skill there on the byline, pity the final ball didn't match.

Though after replay it did look a bit of a potential handball. probably harsh as his hands were by his sides though.

Most probably Timmer as Bert Van Marwijk used to be his boss at Feyenoord, he is experienced but a poor keeper in my eyes, the other option is Stekelenberg , but he isnt even a top keeper. There is a lad coming from u-21s now who will be good and its Boy Waterman.

    Defo on Setanta.

Maybe Itv also but not sure.

Either Gerrard or Rooney on the left I guess. Will be interesting to see who Capello decides to move out of position considering the form of the 2 of them behind a front man. Have a feeling your right on it being Gerrard though.

Finland now two up in injury time in Cardiff.

    Kuqi scored.

Thats the welsh sunk anyway, 2-0 to the fins. Nice timing of the run and finish.

Tosh doesn't look quite so impressed though...

I thought capello had more balls than that tbh.

I'd have gerrard or lamps in with Barry.

    Is Joe Cole injured?

    James
    Johnson Upson Terry Cole
    Lennon Lampard Barry Gerrard
    Heskey Rooney

    From Beeb
Steven Gerrard will start on the left of midfield, though have a roving role.

Only on Setanta - not on Beeb or ITV

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

Terry Venables is on Setanta so it must not be on itv.

Between himself and MacManaman it's like guff central.

I don't have much faith in that formation - I presume the plan is that Barry will provide cover when Gerrard gets forward but potentially it could leave a lot of space for Slovakia to attack down that flank. Also I think that attacking there could well be confusion about who goes where.

Joe Cole is injured for the rest of the season.

Nice ball from Rooney to start it, lovely bit of skill from Gerrard and Heskey did well to get a foot to it.

What a miss there by Heskey:eek::eek::eek:

Gerrard nicely done to setup the goal poor by Skrtel to let Heskey in

Slovakia look very unsteady at the back

The England tops are just manktastic imo esp with the horrible collars

    Feeney scores for NI.

    Heh, it's weird typing that.

Looks like Heskey may not last much longer, Carlton Cole getting ready to come on.

Achilles - also probably saving him for Wed if possible I'd imagine

    Edit: oops Hamstring apparently

as a villa fan i'm glad heskey picked up an injury!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Goal aside I think having Gerrard out left is the wrong option - takes him out of the game too much.

Jeez Skrtel very sloppy there against Rooney

actually, it does look like gerrard and rooney are swapping around a good bit.

Norn Iron 1-1 Poland. Game stopped now, linesman hit on the head by coin. Gerry Armstrong - "that kind of behaviour is so unlike Northern Ireland fans"...LOL.

Yeah Gerrard has been popping up in some weird places there the last few mins and Rooney seems to be doing well in exploting the space left when Gerrard moves in-field. I just think it's a poor formation and that England have been playing well more in spite of as opposed to because of the formation.

Skrtel having an absolute mare there

    Heskey 14mins
    Cole 20mins
    Crouch ?
