Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Maradonna hits back at Pele

After what Pele said about Robinho & Ronaldo, as well as Maradonna himself

I think fair play Diego :D
Diego Maradona has reacted to claims made by Pele that he is not a good role model for children, by declaring that he lost his virginity with a man.

The Brazilian legend claimed last week that both Ronaldo and Robinho have taken drugs, and that Maradona is not someone to look up to because of his history with narcotics.

The Argentine coach was asked for his thoughts on these statements at a press conference today, and did not twist his words when responding.

"What do you want me to say? He debuted (lost his virginity) with a lad (a man)," is what the coach is reported to have said by a host of sources, including Marca.

The response prompted plenty of laughter from all the journalists present at the conference but it is unlikely to go down to well with the Brazilian, nor with some onlookers.

Pele has already had to track back on his claims that Robinho had taken drugs, after the Manchester City man threatened to take legal action.

The now retired Pele claimed that what had been quoted was a "misunderstanding" and suggested the drugs claims were not true.

This latest remark by Maradona has dragged the Brazilian legend into the spotlight yet again and it will be intriguing to see if, or how, he reacts to the comments.

I dont get it. What Pele said about Maradona is absolutely spot on. The guy is a disgrace to the game and shamed himself more than once. He was a fukin coke head ffs ! Not saying he wasnt a good footballer but I am 100% with Pele - no way is he a good role model for anyone young or old. He is a good advertisement for drugs can do to a person though.

Pele basically says that Maradonna lacks class of the pitch and isnt a good role model. Maradonna comes back with 'yea well Pele is gay'...and somehow hes the hero ? It pretty much confirms Peles original criticism.

If Beckham or any other sporting role model came out with something like that, they would be hung out to dry by the press...

Maradonas off pitch activities only add to his legend on it, footballers aren't role models they are footballers. Maradona is more a hero then salesmen & failed politician Pele ever will be.

In your opinion, but i'd put my money on Maradona winning any public poll of whos the greatest of the two. His achievements on the pitch are all the more impressive given his lifestyle off it. Clearly you think because "He was a fukin coke head " this somehow diminishes his achievements & legend, it doesn't.

the reason i'm glad that Maradonna said this is because i like Maradonna. What Pele "said" about Robinho was unacceptable & Pele often strikes me as bitter towards players in the modern game.

the reason i think what Maradonna said is funny, is just cause its so random & Diego is so obviously insane....remember his interview with Linekar a while back & he was wearing two watches, one on each wrist....he is just a nut, love it.

people need to get their head out of the gutter with el diego and drugs.

everyone knows his fondness for cocaine but you would swear his magical play and awesome performances were enhanced by drug use.?

if that's the case do you think if all the west brom players sniffed 20 grams each before a game they would be any better.?

    hardly

Maradona was a once off, Mesi is the nearest players to come close to his qualities.

as for Pele he is too far up his own ass with comments and thinks he can say what he likes, Diego doesn't give a **** about anyone and says what he feels is just. he has had to take more crap than any player in the world, what from fifa and from people nagging him.

its worth remembering that Maradona excelled when players and opposition were far more ruthless than now and he also curbed his anger towards opposition admirably (after that Brazil stomp incident).

Ronaldo wouldn't last a minute if he was thrown back to the Maradona era.

As much as I loved Diego as a player, some of his comments are truly pathetic. I'd be embarrassed to have him representing my country in such a high profile position - and indeed many Argentines are embarrassed by him.

Also do people spell the name ''Maradona'' with two N's as a sly reference to Madonna or something, or is this a genuine mistake?

What Kinaldo said above. Maradona was a great player but that does not change the fact that he is a coked up arsehole

Thing about pele and maradona is the dont like each other. They have both stated that. Diego taking drugs is him all over he was born in a slum and got attracted by fame. he did drugs that made him a worse player not performance enhancing drugs. The drugs he took prob cut his carreer short.( Pele endorses performance enhancing drugs hehe) Maradona slagging pele off in this manner is just a response to pele looking to attract attention to him being clean cut and diego being a bum. there both amazing players and who is better is impossible to know but they will both bad mouth each other to build there case.
People like maradona cause he has flaws its why we like best over charlton, gazza over gary linkear etc etc.

    Me i love Peter Ndlovu
