Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

TV Company looking for permission to use photo

    Hello all.

Looking for some advice if possible. An American TV company wants to use a photo of mine in a production for the History Channel. I gave them permission, but now they want me to sign a 'materials release' form, which is filled with legal mumbo-jumbo.

Has anyone ever signed one of these, and if so, would you reckon it's ok to do so?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Freddie.

Nice one. I hope they pay you well for it.

With a full legal contract, especially from a large US company, you should read the contract a few times, very carefully. Other than that, consult a solicitor.

It's a freebie Paul. I didn't mind, but I'm just an amateur with an interest in photography. I think I'll give it a miss.

Here's the photo in question. Nothing spectacular:

They may be also asking for building release agreements, release that will allow them unlimited use of the image on all their TV channels, for an unlimited time.

Basically, they will want almost everything, for nothing. Not exactly a good deal for you.

I wouldn't say don't do it, but you should be due some compensation for the use of your image.

This may also require you to have permission from the owner of the building to use this shot "commercially"..
As Paul said, be careful what you sign..What building is that btw?

I think its the 'Grand United Masons Lodge' in London. The programme will be called 'decoding Angels and Demons'.
