MP3 Converter Recommendations?

can anyone recommend me a free mp3 converter(encoder) to download? not a free trial version! i need to convert wma and wav to mp3.
there are a couple out there but im very cautious of downloading random software!...had a run in with a trojan recently!:eek:

Itunes converts wmas and wavs you just select the output in the advanced menu

I used a program called Ease Audio Converter for large batches of files and changing bit rates. Couldn't fault it.

media convert and audiotool seem handy thanks! not a big fan of itunes and apple but thanks anyways lads!
its for recording music, everything i record is in wav format so i need to convert this to mp3!

you could try Audacity,and get the lame mp3 encoder it works very well

Is there any tool that performs a quick conversion of single files? I find opening iTunes/SUPER/Audacity to cumbersome for one file.

Any quick one?

http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php - for LAME, the actual mp3 encoder. You can use this from the commandline if you are that way inclined, or these two programs offer a lightweight GUI (as well as doing other stuff):

Alternatively there are ways to put it into Windows Explorer's right click menu so you can just right click on the file to convert.

Just gives you a menu to right click on the file and convert.

No spyware\malware and have been using it for the last year with no problems.

You'll need to install the application and the plugins separately.
