Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have a look in the The New York Megathread

On a budget probably a hostel is best http://www.hostelworld.com/hostels/New-York

st james hotel times square, its 99 dollars a night but thats per room, you could fit 4 people in per room, very basic, exceptionally clean, no frills really, its a bargain for what you get

I was there about 2 weeks ago with 2 friends and we stayed in the Salisburg Hotel. its on 57th and 9th, 2 streets away from Central Park. was such a great location! We had a 2 bedroom suite.. so there were 2 double beds in the bedroom and there was a fold out couch in the living room..so we had a double bed each but you could have fit 6 people in the room! the room was huge! its quite a warm hotel but there is aircon in all the rooms except the bathroom. there was a kitchenette/dining room also with fridge microwave etc..
we paid about 50 each a night which was great for the size of the room and the location! i booked it through alpharooms

Look up the Brodway Plaza, centrally located, clean, nice people, cheap.

For ultra cheap - HI New York. Stayed there 2 years ago, close to the subway into town (About 15 minutes away) http://www.hinewyork.org/ It's a hostel, but clean safe and you can get a 4 bed dorm if there's a few mates that you can have to yourself.
