Golden retriever puppy problems

    Hi there
    I have a golden retriever pup and he is 11 weeks old, i really love him 2 bits but we have been having some growling and snapping issues which we are worried about, it seems to be when he becomes excited and will growl and snap at who ever is closest 2 him,especially the ends of the trousers,he would just snap on and growl and not let go, we are trying to be firm with him,but it just does not seem to work he doesnt understand the word no! he will also start growling when he does not get his own way, been let onto the couch for instance or when we are eating are food he will growl,we were just wondering is this normal for pups or is it a sign of aggression?? thanks

    don't over react to this try and ignore it as much as possible. i'm not a behaviourist but think too many people over react to these kinda things and have known people in the past push the panic button too soon and even get rid of the dog etc. he can be trained out of it. don't reward this bad behaviour with attention etc

    I no what you meen, we just get paronoid it will continue on till his adulthood, anyway we'll do what you said, cheers for the reply:)

    read this by Dr Ian Dunbar about puppies. Make sure you practice with him around his food, hand feed him, make him allow you put your hand in his bowl while hes eating, teach him to let you take away his food from him etc. some of the behaviour just could be puppyness hes only 11 weeks and may have had a bit of competition from the rest of the litter but he's a sponge at the moment and will learn lots from you, socialisation, socialisation, socialisation, socialisation, socialisation as many people and as many situations as possible keep him entertained, stimulated and enjoy him, they are hard work at the start (all) but GR's are such a fantastic sweet dog and will give you years of happiness
