    Post your reviews here :)

Man, I had so many excited people tell me about this. Apparently there was a **** load of people who made their way down to Blackpool.

I completley forgot today was April Fools and was going to head out. Dawned on me then. Silly RedFM..... They were talkin about U2's secret concerts all week though so they built it up to that.

If only U2 did a free/cheap one here. Maybe the Pav..... One day......

    It really was U2 apparently,

Sped off in a Bentley afterwards with a Garda escort in Cavalcade

Once you've seen 'The Edge' with his 5 chords, and single guitar delay chorus sound, you've seen it all. Even if U2 knocked on my door, offering me the deeds to their hotel to come watch them, I'd still slap Bono for being a knob.

Less creative? How more creative could this have been? It took a crap load of organizing, had a tribute band playing and had a good few hundred people in attendence fooled along with probably a few thousand who could not make it.

The guy imitating the Edge should've forked out for a fake goatee rather than drawing one on his face with what seemed to be black biro....

April Fools Day jokes need to be reserved for April Fools Day!!!! It's the ONE day of the year that the media can pull a scam.

I'm sure whatever they said on 1st April about the prank was amusing but I wasn't listening. However, it's a bit pathetic to be so desperate for publicity that the radio station had to hype up the prank for a fortnight (KC's blog claims that the breakfast show had been hinting for the last two weeks that U2 were going to play a special gig in Cork).

This was done at the same time that legitimate gigs were being announced for Live at the Marquee e.g. Lady Gaga, Kanye West etc... It wasn't exactly outrageous to claim that U2 were playing a special gig in Cork. Last year, REM played some intimate gigs at the Olympia and tickets were limited.. there was some special process for attaining tickets... The U2 announcement (waaaaay before 1st April) sounded quite similar to this.

Now can RedFM just shut up about their overly-commercial Blackpool Shopping Centre-sponsored wind-up/PR stunt. Enough of the 'we're sooooooo hilarious and we're sooooo funny'. Yeah, it was clever but it's extremely annoying the way they're patting themselves on the back and telling all their listeners that they are like TOTAL legends. Enough, enough!!
