Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The ideal overnight rest stop?

I've had enough of this recession already and am plotting my escape!

I've found a 60 acre farm with a large house and farm buildings for sale on the west coast of Sweden right next to the E6 which carries all the traffic from the continent up to Norway.

I honestly don't know if it's a go'er but one idea I have had, to make the place work financially would be to have a stopover for Caravans and Motorhomes.

The farm is North of Gothenburg towards the Norwegian border, unfortunately it's not directly on the coast but within about 1 km of it. It's less than a km from the nearest junction on the E6.

Before I start spending money on this and actually go and view the farm, I was hoping that people could give some feedback on what they consider is required for a great stopover place so that I can speak to the local planners and see if this would be at all possible.

Included on the farm is approx. 25 acres of woodland.

Any input people could give would be greatly appreciated. If I do it, I want to do it properly. So if you have links to, or photos of, the best equipped places you have ever stayed, that would be great. Or places where individual elements were outstanding such as bbq areas, kids play areas etc.

What is the ideal size for the place in terms of the number of hard standings? What facilities should be provided for the likes of cooking, washing, toilet emptying, wifi etc.? What would you expect to be a reasonable charge for an overnight stay in a well equipped stop?

I hope you get the idea! I'm starting from a clean sheet with no first hand knowledge and a hair brained idea so your feedback is appreciated.:)

    Cheers

    D-M.
