Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Get out more...

More real football for real fans actually happening in reality. In fact, only some of the teams play in green. :p

    Friday, April 3:
19:35:00 Bohemians  v Cork City Dalymount Park (corrected for early kick-off)
19:45:00 Bray Wanderers v St Patrick's Athletic Carlisle Grounds
19:45:00 Derry City v Galway United The Brandywell
19:45:00 Drogheda United v Shamrock Rovers United Park

    Saturday, April 4:

20:00:00 Sligo Rovers v Dundalk Showgrounds

We'll bounce back from our slump last week to beat City (I have to say that).
Drogs showed enough fight last week so they could overcome Shamrock.

Old bait in working order shock. Ignore the title if offends you. End.

Rovers to get a result against Drogs. MON has admitted to upcoming personnel changes last week, but perhaps he means Maguire is back in.

Elsewhere I'll go for home wins at Dalyer and Brandywell. Draw at the Carlisle.

have to agree with stovelid here. I think the change from a rovers point of view is McGuire will be back and thats about it. Who to drop? Webb, yes please.

I also fancy Rovers to get a result out of this.

City to somehow beat Bohs 0-1. Couldn't care less about the rest. In fact, I could not even give a toss if Bohs beat City 7-0.

If Drogs play like they did last week you'll have a tough time scoring.

    No bother at all...
    Getting to Dalymount:
'From west (N3): N3 (Navan Rd) into Dublin, keep left at Cabra heading for Phibsborough and at end of New Cabra Road (St Peter's church on right) left onto St Peter's Road.'

I'm sure it's a breeze as most traffic would be the other way. ;)

only thing is that we wont score regardless, so itll either be 0-0 or a rovers win

Some of the directions you've been given are very ambiguous, so I thought it best to clarify:

If by low skilled football you mean football that isn't completely over commercialised, isn't ruined by celebrity personalities and teams you can actually take pride in, then yes, low skilled football.

I feel a great sense of irony from hardcore football fans, who've never been to a football game:eek:

To answer your question, it is not 'low-skilled' football. It is lower-skilled than the EPL, of course, unless I have been missing something and tens of millions of pounds spent there count for nothing.

Try living for 90 minutes on a pitch with a bunch of LoI players and see how low-skilled it is.

Really irks me when Irish league fans say stuff like this - what exactly do you mean by it?

On another note, wouldnt mind taking in an Irish game this weekend. Whats available thats easy for me to get to? I live in Temple Bar so getting to anywhere in Dublin wouldnt be a problem. I don't have an Irish team although I watched UCD maybe 10 times during my time in college there

    any suggestions?

Don't get irked! Get real! :p

From Temple Bar, at a stretch you can walk to Dalymount (head up O'Connell St), or take a bus of course. Bohemian FC is the metropolitan club for Dublin. All others are either suburban hicks or imposters.

Kick-off is at 7:35. Unless you're from Cork, go to the Jodi Stand (NCR side) and not the Connaught St side.

I'm a die hard UTD fan so will never ever be one of the anti-EPL fans but I love watching live footie so am happy with a fix of some Irish football.

I'm English but have lived in Dublin for the last 4 and half years so am pretty anti-Cork. Could be a good first game to go to then, ha

How do I get there from the top of O'Connell St then? And how much can I expect to pay to get in?

    Cheers

EDIT: sorry for hi-jacking the thread btw

This kind of thing is not directed at normal English fans of the EPL. People get pissed off at Irish people ignoring their own league for a league elsewhere, which they primarily watch on TV.

On topic, Whats the story with capacity up at United Park this season? Im so used to going to a sold-out ground Im not sure ill get in :)

SectionF's dastardly plan is becoming clear. Wind up the barstoolers with incendiary thread titles and then try and lure innocents over to Dalyer to cure their ailing gates.

    Beware. :p

If yer English then your first loyalty is naturally to English football.

Walk up Parnell Square. Up N. Frederick St, crossing Dorset St. Right on Berkeley St.. Walk about a half mile then turn left onto NCR. Through traffic lights at Doyle's corner in Phibsborough. 100 yds --> turn right down lane to Jodi (follow people wearing black and red!).
    Map.

Black. And red. Though some will be wearing Celtic tops too and the odd miscreant has been known to turn up in a ManU or Chelsea shirt

    Almost forgot. €20 in. €10 (I think) if you're a student, studenting.

Well I was thinking of wearing my England shirt that has Rooney on the back but will play it safe with my Man Utd jersey!

Ill try wangle it as a student. Made it an aim of mine this season to get to a few Irish games so maybe a regular around the Dublin grounds.

Yep, it's the First Division, but we're friendlier than them up at Dalyer.

I would go a little further than that. I get pissed off at people who dismiss the league without knowing anything about it. It's like deciding that a film's **** before you've even watched it.

    To p_larkin99,

Richmond Park is a little further from Temple Bar, but admission is cheaper than Dalyer! Next home game is Derry on Tuesday. Fixture list here.
