Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

When they say input lag for an LCD TV , do they mean with gaming mode ?

the delay between pressing a control on the pad, and the resp on screen ?

Input lag is in reference to how long it takes for a video signal to be displayed on screen. Some TVs carry out a lot of post-processing on video signals and this in turn can cause input lag. This can be most noticeable when gaming, as some games require fast interaction e.g. first person shooters, sports games etc. The longer it takes for your button press to be recognised on screen, the slower your reactions will appear to be.

Some TVs, like the Sony W4000 series have very little input lag, so gaming is fine, whereas the Sony W5500 series have a high input lag, meaning that users would find it difficult with the delay when playing the aforementioned type of games.

We measured the input lag on the Sony KDL40W5500 LCD television to be 50ms slower than our resident Samsung F96 reference. By activating [Game Mode] through the [Scene Select] submenu, input lag can be brought down to 17-33ms vs. the Samsung F96. Which, of course, is still worse than that on the outgoing W4500 series. Whether or not this amount of input lag will affect your gaming performance depends on your individual sensitivity, and the reflexes demanded by the particular game.
