Submitting a play

Hi guys,
Have just written a play but have absolutely no clue what to do with it. Is anyone aware if it's just a matter of sending it off to the theatres and waiting to hear back or if there's something else involved ( whether theatres accept unsolicited scripts in the first place?). Any advice greatly appreciated.

I would only send it to theatres that accept scripts, I don't know any in Ireland, instead send it to theatre companies, eg. fishamble, druid, corcadora, rough magic etc.

Make sure your script is in the correct format, the synopsis is short and sweet etc.
