Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In July I will be heading to Yogyakarta, Indonesia for a language course and from there to a village on Lake Toba....my departure point is Melbourne and I already have my ticket from Ireland to Australia.

Does anyone have any tips, ideas etc for the best way to get form Melbourne to Yogy and on to Lake Toba? I was looking at Quantas and Emirates but neither fly to Sumatra, was beginning to wonder might it be an option to fly to Singapore and get some form of connection from there....basically funds are fairly limited so I am looking for the cheapest (but still somewhat reliable and safe) option....all advice welcome - thanks in advance :)

Id fly from oz to bali if i was you and make my way over land to yogya, stop at mt bromo on the way, its quality. you can fly from there to medan and its a couple of hours on a bus to get to toba which is also a sweet place! If you have time you should probably do it all overland, you wont get bored with the scenery there and all the cities(except medan) were pretty cool!
for internal flights airasia would be my first choice followed by garuda, i took a flight on lionair though and it was fine too!
